Rapid SAP Training Optimization for Bridgestone EMEA

Bridgestone EMEA needed to quickly and efficiently train a large number of internal and external employees on newly implemented SAP systems. The challenge was to accomplish this within a short timeframe while ensuring the training was both effective and agile.

Amista joined Bridgestone’s SAP implementation halfway through the process, but despite the late entry, we successfully optimized the learning solutions to better meet the organization’s needs. We developed content in multiple formats, including PowerPoint imported as books, simulations, quizzes, and MP4 videos, context-sensitive help through the Web Assistant, …

Objectives

  • General business trainings will be the first key learning moment for end users, prior to diving into specific delta process and system trainings.
  • Content for delta process training decks is based on specific L4s gathered with process leads and validated by Heads of Business Processes (HoBPs).
  • To navigate around the new S/4HANA system and execute the system transactions.

Tasks

  • General business training decks were developed by the training team leveraging the existing and shown to the different Heads of Business Processes for review.
  • Specific inputs (i.e. high-level process diagrams, key changes and impacts/benefits) were requested to the Heads of Business Processes to make the training materials more relevant for end users in a Bridgestone specific context.
  • Once the content is finalized, the general business training decks will be converted into E-learnings using SEN to ensure end users’ interactions.
  • System trainings will come after delta process trainings, they guide end users on how to use the new RYOGA syste
  • Write documentation: manuals, FAQs, …

Implementing SAP Enable Now

When implementing SAP Enable Now, we fully embraced Bridgestone’s evolving learning culture, which prioritizes independent, on-demand, and just-in-time learning. This approach allows employees to access and engage with online content whenever they need it and at their own pace. To support this, Bridgestone utilizes a variety of tools for content creation, with SAP Enable Now playing a key role.

The shift to independent learning is happening gradually, so it’s important to ensure that this focus is reflected when creating content with SAP Enable Now. To support this new approach, the project team developed a process to guide content creation at the beginning of each Bridgestone project. As part of the RYOGA program—a major transformational initiative within Bridgestone EMEA. To facilitate this, a RYOGA Learning Coordinator has been appointed to lead intake sessions, where the SAP Enable Now tool and the RYOGA Learning Centre’s approach are explained, and further arrangements are made.

The implementation of SAP Enable Now included:

  • IT setup: Single Sign-On, SAP Companion (Web Assistant), workflow SAP EN, …
  • Resources: resolutions, text styles, trainer, templates, documentation lay-out, …
  • Amista ZEN Best Practice structure
  • Training authors: training on Manager, Instant Producer, Producer, Workflow, …
  • Content creation with SAP Enable Now (SEN) for different departments

Benefits

Single source of truth

All training materials are maintained in one central location, hereby avoiding multiple versions of the material to be circulating within the organization.

One centralized learning platform

All materials are stored on The RYOGA Learning Centre which is accessible very easily through a URL, via the Web assistant in S/4HANA or via the Bridgestone Intranet and has been structured clearly.

Online support throughout S/4HANA

When using/working on a specific SAP transaction, the Web Assistant can be activated for immediate and urgent support.

Blended learning

The target audience gathers knowledge in various ways. In addition to the actual coaching and classical training, the project allows all employees to train themselves independently with available e-Learnings, instruction recordings, quizzes, videos.

SPOCs

The SPOCs are important in providing input (simulations, knowledge). By working closely together with the SEN Consultants they feel involved in the project and feel engaged and motivated when giving training to the users of the department.

Instant Producer (SAP Enable Now) available for all employees

by giving access to this tool, employees can build and share informal training material (such as simulations, work instructions, ….) with colleagues. SAP Enable Now is a user-friendly tool to replace all existing Word material (screenshots) in a more efficient way by making simulations.

Results

The project led to several significant business outcomes. Efficiency and productivity improved as the time required to train employees was drastically reduced, enabling large numbers of employees to be trained simultaneously. This shift also resulted in a decrease in classroom training costs, as well as a more structured approach to training both internal and external employees. Bridgestone successfully embraced a digital learning culture, with e-learning combined with change management efforts driving greater user adoption of the new SAP systems. Additionally, the implementation provided a unified overview within the Bridgestone Intranet, centralizing information and resources for easier access.
